Q
How many gallons of water will a 5 oz bottle of Pastora use?
I have a 100 gal sprayer and want to spray 15 acres of coastal Bermuda .
A
Application rates of Pastora Herbicidevary from 1 - 2.5 oz. per 100 gallons of water per acre depending on the type of weed you are trying to prevent. When using a pre-emergent the amount of water could be more or less as water is just the carrier and it is more important to be sure you are applying the correct amount of product per area.

Q
Is there a product that kills and controls sandburs and is safe for cattle grazing?
What products do you recommend?
A
Pastora Herbicideis labeled to control sandbur aka sandspur when used as directed on the product label for post-emergent control. The label states that grazing animals do not have to be moved off the pasture before, during, or after applying. Apply when sandbur is newly germinated to 1.5” tall. Make applications when bermudagrass is less than 4” tall following green-up in the spring or after cutting for hay. Tall, dense stands of bermudagrass can intercept spray and reduce sandbur control.

A
Pastora Herbicideis not labeled to be used in home lawns and is labeled for tall fescue hay fields. Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicidewill control seedling Johnsongrass, and it will suppress rhizome Johnsongrass and is safe for use in tall fescue. For nutsedge control we would recommend using Sedgehammer. Neither the Acclaim or Sedgehammer can be used in pastures.

Q
Can Pastora be used on a yard?
We live on 4 acres. The part that we consider our "yard" around the house has been taken over by grass burs. Can Pastora be used to treat our "yard" or is this for pastures only?
A
No, the Pastora Herbicide label states: Do not use of lawns, driveways, walks, tennis courts, golf courses, athletic fields or other high maintenance, fine turgrass or other areas.
Without knowing what type of grass is your lawn we would not be able to make a specific recomendation.
Usually applying a winter (around Feb-March) and a spring (around April-May) pre-emeregent application of Dimension 2EW or Pendulum 2G will kill sandburs. The treated area should not be disturbed during this period and should be watered in thoroughly for best results. As always, read and follow label directions carefully. Also remember that it may take a couple of years to eliminate all the burs hiding in your lawn. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff as he/she may be able to tell you what has worked best in your region and also the exact time to apply the products for the best result in your region.
